CEO 8x8, Inc.
Vikram Verma started his career at Savi Technology (Savi) as a Design Engineer right after graduating from Stanford University. Over the years, he was promoted to VP of Engineering and COO of Savi. As COO helped in the sale of Savi to Texas Instruments. A few years later, as CEO, he helped lead the management buyout of the company. With help of key venture funds Vector Capital, Accel Partners, Temasek; strategic partners Hutchison Whampoa, Oracle and UPS and an awesome group of employees, transformed Savi to be the pioneer in leveraging RFID technology to track the movement, contents, and security of cargo containers worldwide, via both public and private clouds. This was the first practical application of the “Internet of Things”.
Savi was sold to Lockheed Martin and after running it for a couple of years as a division of Lockheed Martin, moved into a new role as the President of Strategic Venture Development for Lockheed Martin Corporation with responsibility for commercializing LM technology companywide. An awesome opportunity where he saw some jaw-dropping technology/assets and helped put together some really cool deals. Now thrilled to be at 8x8, Inc. where the team shares a passion for building a company that translates complex technology into easy-to-use products and services that create value for customers the world over.
Vikram has received three degrees in electrical engineering (Florida Tech, University of Michigan and Stanford) and multiple graduate management/Directors College credentials (Harvard, Stanford, and University of California at Berkeley). He was awarded 8 patents and named Tau Beta Pi Williams Fellow and a Davos World Economic Forum Top 40 Technology Pioneer.
