Simon Byron

Publishing Director Curve Digital

Simon Byron joined Curve Digital in May 2015. He is responsible for all aspects of the firm's publishing arm - PR, marketing, promotions, and acquisitions. During that time, he has played an influential part in the company's stellar growth, forming part of the team that signed and published hits such as Human: Fall Flat, For The King, Bomber Crew and Autonauts. In 2019, Curve won all three UK publishing awards - an unprecedented triumph.

Simon has been in the games industry since 1992, almost before there was a games industry. An imaginative strategist, inventive PR practitioner, passionate gamer and revered writer, he has worked on some of gaming’s highest-profile launches and titles. Career highlights include launching the Guitar Hero franchise in Europe, leading the campaigns for the Batman Arkham series of games and working with both King and The Pokemon Company to launch both console and mobile titles.

Byron began as a staff writer on EMAP’s ‘The One’ magazine, quickly moving through the ranks to deputy editor in 1993 and editor in 1994. In 1994, Byron joined fledgling PR agency Bastion, and during his time was a key part in building the agency from a three-man team into one of the industry’s premier PR firms. He joined Barrington Harvey in 2003, with a view to further expanding the business and helping to establish it as the best in its field. He set up Premier PR's games division in 2010, growing it to a team of 12 full-time employees and managing campaigns in the UK, Europe, and the US.

In 2013 he began managing Premier's social media division, working across a variety of entertainment accounts, managing social media channels for games, TV and home entertainment.

He is also the co-host of One Life Left, Europe's only FM broadcast videogames radio show, airing weekly on London's Resonance FM. One Life Left won the prestigious Games Media Award for 'best broadcast' in 2010.
