Sharon S. Yang brings public and private sector financial services expertise across strategic, legal and policy initiatives. She is currently the Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Financial Markets in Treasury International Affairs. Her work demands to craft and advocating international financial policy goals in a fast-paced, current event-driven environment requiring the ability to quickly address changing issues and collaborate with Treasury, White House, inter-agency and international counterparts.

Sharon heads a team of international economists and financial analysts responsible for addressing a wide range of international financial policy issues, including advocating U.S. interests on the Financial Stability Board, the OECD and bilaterally with EU and Asian counterparts, as well as monitoring risks in key financial markets.

Sharon represents Treasury on several international committees and is frequently invited to speak on international financial policy issues. She is also leading the U.S. interagency team in the 2020 U.S. IMF Financial Stability Assessment Program. Prior to her current role in Treasury International Affairs, Sharon was an advisor in the Office of the General Counsel and is the recipient of the 2017 Legal Team of the Year award for her work on financial regulation and of the Treasury 2016 Special Act award for her work on China.

Sharon's work at Treasury builds on 15 years' private sector experience in law and business. She is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is a member of the Council.
