Former Founding CEO and Chairman ARM


Robin Saxby was the founding CEO and Chairman of ARM, the creator of the world’s most prolific microprocessor. (B150+ chips shipped to date used in iPhones, games TVs and cars). He led ARM from a 13 person start-up to floatation on NASDAQ and London in 1998 and global success.

Today, Robin is an angel investor and mentor in various UK technology start-ups and funds including Plessey, Libertine, Graphcore, Highlight Semiconductor, and Amadeus. He served as Chairman of the Open Microprocessor Initiative Advisory Group, a European Union collaborative R&D program. He received his knighthood in the New Year Honours list 2002.

Robin is an active supporter of the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Enterprise Hub. His awards include - Faraday medal (IET), Morris Chang Leadership award (GSA), Business Transformation (Wharton Infosys), Founders medal (IEEE).

He holds Honorary Doctorates at the Universities of Liverpool, Loughborough, Essex, York, Anglia Ruskin Nottingham Trent, and Edge Hill. He served as President of the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology 2006-7). Robin was Managing Director of ES2 Ltd, a silicon ASIC Company between 1986 and 1990. His early career was in engineering and sales with RBM, Pye TMC, and Motorola. He received his B Eng Electronics in 1968 at the University of Liverpool, where he has been a visiting professor since 1999.
