Martin Liebi's focus is on advising national and international clients in banking & finance, in particular private banking, asset management, and investment banking, commodities trading matters related to capital market infrastructures, such as MTF, OTF, and OTC-derivatives and related implementation Projects, and (iv) restructurings, financings, private/public investments, M&A-transactions, and liquidations mainly in the financial services industries.

He plans and leads to large scale regulatory change and compliance alignment project. He holds a Master in General Management from Harvard University, a Master in Law from Stanford University, a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Zurich, and a Master degree in Law from the University of Fribourg. Martin is also a CAIA-Chartholder and admitted to the bars in Zurich and New York. Martin regularly publishes on actual topics in financial market regulation, asset management, capital markets, restructurings, corporate law, and M&A. He is also a frequent speaker on conferences and industry gatherings (University of St. Gallen, University of Zurich, Swiss Finance Institute), especially about capital markets and banking. Martin is a lecturer in capital markets law at the University of Zurich’s LL.M. program in Banking and Finance and a judge at the commercial court of Zurich (Banking/M&A/Capital Markets).

Martin has inhouse-counsel experience as head legal of a Swiss private bank with own in-house funds and as head compliance of a Swiss asset manager of collective investment schemes as well as external counsel experience as attorney-at-law with leading Swiss and U.S. law firms during his career of more than thirteen years.
