About

Lance Shingai Mambondiani joined Steward Bank in July 2013 as Business Development and Strategy Executive. He was appointed Acting CEO in February 2015 and confirmed as substantive CEO in August 2015. He is a Lawyer and Banker with years of international experience at the executive level. He previously worked in Europe for various Banking and Financial institutions. He was Deputy MD at Coronation Financial and Client Services Manager at Barclaycard (UK). He also had secondment roles at UBS (Switzerland), Investec (SA) and Ulster Bank (Northern Ireland). In Zimbabwe, he had worked previously as MD of Kingdom Private Bank, a division of AfrAsia Kingdom Bank, Chief Executive Officer of TN Asset Management, a subsidiary of TN Bank and as a Legal Advisor & Corporate Finance Manager at NMB Bank.

Besides his corporate profile, he is a Development Economist and until June 2013, was a Lecturer in International Finance for Development at the University of Central Lancashire Business School and a Teaching Assistant for MSc classes in Financial Markets and Corporate Governance at the University of Manchester. He has published a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals, is a columnist for several newspapers and speaks at various international conferences and forums.

Lance has a combination of skills in financial markets, investment banking, retail banking delivery channels, private wealth management, corporate finance, business law, corporate governance, and development finance & economics.

He is a Chevening Scholar, a director in several companies and has won numerous awards and scholarships for academic achievements. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Manchester in 2011 with a thesis on Corporate Governance, Bank Ownership & Profitability and an MSc in Development Finance (First Class) from the same University.
