Kathryn Everett

Head of Film XTR

Kathryn Everett is a filmmaker, political strategist, and activist whose mission is to uplift and empower disenfranchised communities through storytelling. Kathryn has spent the past ten years organizing artists and activists to create change. Her work has taken her from organizing rural communities in Southwest Colorado on behalf of President Barack Obama to advocate for voting rights as a producer and creative director for Mark Ruffalo's artist collective We Stand United, to serving as the Chief Operating Officer of the non-profit organization Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ), where she raised $30M alongside Board Members Ben Stiller, Susan Sarandon, David Belle, and founder Paul Haggis to institute long-term, dignified educational institutions for the very poor in Haiti. As a humanitarian living and working in communities of extreme poverty, her work is informed by deep compassion and sensitivity to culture. She is committed to working in collaboration with local communities to highlight both their victories and their struggles with complexity, dignity, and heart.

Kathryn’s directorial debut GIRLS SECTION, about girls’ education in remote northern Pakistan, won both Best Documentary and Best Women’s Short at the China International Short Film Festival. Kathryn is the Chief of Staff at XTR in Echo Park, Los Angeles.
