Karin Hibma has a first-hand understanding of the power of design and visual thinking in our economy and culture and creates game-changing strategic identities – finding "the big idea" inherent in every project.

A consultant to both clients who are creating change and creative colleagues, she works with innovators – founders, leaders, chef-level executives, and creative teams. From start-ups to established organizations and global companies creating new products, making strategic shifts and establishing, updating or improving their strategy, "Elegant Questions Design Answers".

Karin served on the transformational advisory council of the International Design Conference in Aspen (IDCA), where she met Dr. Paul Polak (founder of IDE, an international organization concentrating on ending rural poverty, author of “Out of Poverty” and founder of Design for the Other 90% and D-Rev) and strategizes with executive teams as a partner in Polak Advisors. She is on the board of advisors for Design for Social Innovation at the School of Visual Arts, a cross-disciplinary MFA program that integrates design, entrepreneurship, data analysis and visualization, ethics, communication design, game theory, and design, and teaches students to work across disciplines to solve problems.

Investor, advisor, mentor to early-stage startups and entrepreneurs. Advisor to the Creative Summit and host of the upcoming CS29. LongNow member and The Interval advisor. A longtime member of AIGA, the professional association for design, Karin was named a 2012 AIGA San Francisco Fellow and served on the AIGA National Board 2016-19. She serves the arts on the Board of Musical Traditions, Inc and The Paul Dresher Ensemble. She was a Board Member of San Francisco Women in Advertising. Karin is an accomplished speaker who resonates with and inspires audiences.
