Jonas Gross is a Research Assistant at the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center (FSBC), a think tank at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management which analyzes the influence of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies on a) companies’ business models and b) whole economies. After finishing his bachelor’s and master's degree in Economics at the University of Bayreuth (Germany), Jonas started to work at the FSBC and to do his Ph.D.

His main research focus is to analyze the economic implications of blockchain technology. In particular, he investigates also as part of his Ph.D. the connection between blockchain technology and monetary policy in the form of central bank digital currencies. Furthermore, he wrote various reports about the cryptocurrency project Libra, which has been initiated by Facebook and announced in June 2019. His contributions cover a paper about the policy implications stemming from Libra and further aspects e.g. macroeconomic aspects, as an economic classification of Libra, and an overview of the setup, benefits, and risks of Libra.
