Group Managing Director Barclays Investment Bank

John Stecher is currently the Group Managing Director of Barclays Investment Bank. After more than 15 years of experience as a recognized leader at a technology bellwether, developing key platforms and products for the most technologically advanced bank in the world, and now leading innovation across a global retail and investment bank he has distinguished himself as a technology expert and team builder. He started his own profitable company delivering bleeding edge mobile applications before iPhone development was trendy. Through his experience in high-end and low latency software development, software architecture, 3rd generation programming languages as well as integrated software and hardware performance analysis, he tackled some of the most complex end-to-end problems the technology industry has to offer.

The list of his successful projects includes building out Marcus by Goldman Sachs from the first lines of code, creating multiple platforms from scratch inside of Goldman that were spun out and now have valuations well over $1B, performing TCO and productivity-focused competitive product analysis for fortune 500 companies on 40million+ ELA's. His biggest accomplishment has been consistently creating teams that were considered the most innovative, collaborative, diverse and client-focused at every place he has worked.

His career goals do not vary much from his goals in life. He looks for challenging and rewarding environments that allow him to grow quickly by pushing himself outside of his comfort zone. He also strives to work alongside the most talented people in the industry, as there is no better way to learn than being surrounded by excellence. He is truly passionate about leading teams of developers and administrators while rolling up his sleeves to deliver a set of cutting edge, mission-critical solutions that are the technical backbone of a company.
