John Meyer

Managing Partner Starship Capital

John H. Meyer is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and futurist who is currently focussed on advising and investing in technology-heavy companies that leap society forward.

Widely known for turning down a job at Apple (corporate) when he was 18, John was one of the first 1,000 mobile app developers for the iPhone, building over 40 apps in the early days of the AppStore, including the world's first flashlight application.

John then went on to build and sell Fresco, a revolutionary citizen journalism company that has now been used by news organizations such as FOX, Hearst Newspapers, Nexstar Media Group, CBS, NBC, WSJ, ABC/Disney, & more.

In partnership with venture studio Atomic, Meyer then co-founded Homebound. Homebound’s mission is to create a better way to build a home leveraging technology, and it is already delivering on that mission to places that need it the most: communities impacted by devastating wildfires.

Already helping dozens of homeowners in Sonoma and Ventura Counties, and with backing from Thrive Capital, Khosla Ventures and Google Ventures, Homebound is ready to scale to help hundreds more.

John is the youngest member of the 2017 “Forbes 30 Under 30” media list and is one of twenty recipients of the Peter Thiel's 2015 Thiel Fellowship. John also appears as a technology analyst and contributor 2-3x per week on Fox Business, the largest business news network in the US by viewership.
