James Woodall

James Woodall is from Riverdale, Georgia. He is an alumnus of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Religious Studies. He also is an 8-year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as an Intelligence Analyst in the Army Reserves.

He ran for State Representative in 2016 and went on to be elected to the State Committee of the Democratic Party of Georgia, as well as being elected State Vice President of the Georgia Clients Council. He also was the Campaign Manager for Francys Johnson for Congress [GA12] and served as a legislative aide and Chief of Staff to State Representative Miriam Paris [HD142-Macon].

Woodall is a fully paid, Silver-Life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He has served as its State President of the [GA] Youth & College Division and as Vice President of its Bulloch County branch. He also was appointed to be the State Chair of its Young Adults Committee. He is also a graduate of the NAACP’s NextGen inaugural cohort. He currently is the State President of the Georgia NAACP.

Minister Woodall is a licensed minister of the gospel. He is currently is enrolled in the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), pursuing a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) at the Morehouse School of Religion. He is an Associate Minister at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia.

​Mr. Woodall is a preacher, an activist, a student, but most importantly, a prisoner of hope. He is guided by the words of the prophet in Zechariah 9:12, “Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope. Today I declare that I will restore double to you.” And in these days of challenge and adversity, he believes in the beauty of this moment to make America a better nation.
